Livestock Entry Requirements

NOTE: Be sure to include your name, age, email, and phone number with all submissions.
Please direct all submission questions to thewashingtoncountyfair@gmail.com
  1. Dress in show clothes. Be neat, wear boots or appropriate show attire for your species!
  2. Clip and Groom as if you are at a show. Your animal will love to get pampered!
  3. Put on show collars/halters if you have them. This maybe the best video you ever get of this animal in it’s prime! Let’s make sure they look the best they can!
  4. Setup the animal correctly with the legs, head, etc.. where they should be for your species.
  5. Lighting: Avoid shadows, keep the sun at your back, slightly overcast days work well also.
  6. Background: Try to minimize distracting backgrounds, items, patterns and objects. Be careful where horizontal lines are in your background. They can trick the eye into thinking an animal doesn’t have a straight backline, if taken improperly.
  7. Enlist help! You should be in the video with your animal! You may need someone to take the video and someone to distract your animal. Click here for helpful tips and best practices for creating your video submissions!
  8. Side View: Make sure they are setup, don’t let them hunch up or over stretched.
  9. Rear View: Make sure you can see their full legs. For market animals you want to show their width, some species it is good to be able to see a little of the width of loin over the back. For milkers make sure the udder is easy to see.
  10. Video Requirements:
    • Video should be no longer than 3 minutes
    • Each video should begin with the following information spoken by the exhibitor:
    • Name
    • Animal Breed, type and age
    • Brief description of what breed is known for
    • Videos – Follow the pattern outlined below. Have videographer stand in the middle (like judge). Circle around them like in a show about 10-15 feet from them. Stop your animal and show a setup side profile. Circle around the judge one more time and then pull the animal up to the Videographer about 6 ft away and setup. The videographer should then walk around the animal about 10 ft away, so that you can show off your skills at setting up an animal as the judge changes position.

NOTE: Be sure to include your name, age, email, and phone number with all submissions.
